Weddings at East Mersea Hall Essex

East Mersea Hall in Essex is a rustic but modern venue that has undergone a huge renovation to transform the venue and landscaped grounds into a beautiful place to wed. For a wedding photographer, there’s no shortage of beautiful spots for some stunning bride and groom photos. There are a couple of options for wedding couples including The Secret Garden for a festival-style wedding, hidden away from the main area. All will be revealed to your guests when they enter the secret garden for the wedding breakfast.

The Pavilion is great for a barn-style wedding. With a large patio area with beautiful LED lighting to add the perfect ambience to your day and evening. With full-length glass windows overlooking the lake which itself is surrounded by mature trees and path lighting. You even get a boat if you fancy a romantic row and a swing attached to the trees to take a moment.

You can wed inside or outside in either a walled garden or the woodland itself. With St Edmonds church adjacent to the venue you even opt for a more traditional church ceremony.

I had the pleasure of photographing and filming at East Mersea Hall for Louise and James this March 2023 with my business partner Dave and the weather behaved very well for us despite a rainy forecast. They opted for the Pavillion a great choice for the winter months. With all the group photos taken, we took Louise and James around the lake using the pathways and they couldn’t resist a swing. Of course, we obliged with photos and videos to mark the occasion. As much as James really wanted to go in the boat the recent rainy weather had filled the little row boat halfway with water, oh well you can’t have it all.

As evening darkness approached we took advantage of the scenery and mood lights for a few more bride and groom photos. Then it was party time with all the guests having a ball, interrupted only by the amazing hog roast.

The venue is relatively new for weddings and this was our first time there and can wholeheartedly recommend it to couples looking for something a little different.
