Wedding Venue

The Grade II listed Listed Manor House Newland Hall caters for small and large weddings with a huge marquee at the back. It has both indoor and outdoor ceremony options and the grounds and manor house make for fantastic wedding photography and film. Located in Essex near Chelmsford it’s secluded and well maintained.

Preparations at Newland Hall

The lawn has a large bridal preparation room for your wedding day, with a full-length balcony overlooking the lawn and fountain area. With patio doors and large windows, it’s light, airy and roomy enough for a large bridal party. It’s upstairs just off the large inside balcony area that also overlooks the indoor ceremony room. There’s also a small room down the corridor for the boys to get ready.

The Ceremony at Newland Hall

Newland hall has indoor and outdoor options for you. If you choose an outside wedding, the gazebo can be nicely decorated and there’s plenty of seating for large parties.

The Drinks reception

Straight after the ceremony a group and confetti photo can be taken at the front of the house. Guests may mingle there for a while before making their way to the patio area at the back with a lawn and fruit trees where the wedding drinks will be served on a nice day. Guests will also use the small lawn area between the the marquee and manor house too. Indoor areas or the marquee are used in the colder months.

The Group Photographs at Newland Hall

For your group photos choose the lawn area outside the manor house or the patio and lawn area behind the marquee. For large groups the front of the manor house is a perfect photo location, this is great for confetti too.

Bride & Groom Photos at Newland Hall

I usually start at the back as there’s a nice scenic walk around the grounds for wedding photos and film. Ending up outside the Manor house and in the adjacent small field for some portraits with the manor in the background.

Wedding Breakfast

The marquee is large and comfortably sits well over 100 guests. You’ll get a nice diffused light and an airy feel too. It’s a large space and when the tables aren’t too close together it’s a great opportunity to have a quick table dash where the couple will have a picture taken with each table. I’ll have the guests clapping to the music and waving their napkins whilst they make their way around the tables.

Evening Wedding Reception at Newland Hall

Also held in the Marquee with an integrated dance floor and DJ booth. You’re a few steps away from the patio area with additional seating too for those warmer summer days.

With no onsite accommodation you’ll find plenty of hotels in the surrounding Chelmsford area.
