The Roslin Beach Hotel

A wedding at The Roslin Beach in Southend, Essex will be as unique as the couple themselves as it’s one of the very best wedding venues in Essex, especially if you’re looking for a seaside vibe. Located right on the seafront, the Roslin has beautiful views of the Thames Estuary. The venue has two options, the larger Ballroom for up to 100 daytime guests and 150 total guests for the evening, or the smaller bay room for 25 - 30 Day Guests and 70 total including the evening guests. Both are exclusively yours when booked and have their own private patio areas.

Unrivalled Beach Location

One of the main selling points for any wedding venue is its location, and the Roslin Beach Hotel overlooks the beach and Thames estuary. The reception room has a dance floor recently relocated to the front by the large windows for exceptional panoramic views throughout the day and evening.

Preparation Rooms

The Roslin's preparation rooms are beach themed with pastel colours and decor and include a room with a balcony overlooking the seafront. Perfect for capturing some bridal or groom party group shots and of course some intimate and candid bride or groom portraits too. The rooms will add some depth to your wedding story.

Ceremony and Reception Rooms

The Roslin's ceremony and reception rooms are wonderfully diverse and photogenic. The main ceremony area is incorporated into the ballroom itself and is large and spacious. There’s ample room for the photographer to get different perspectives and capture the big moment taking in the features and views. The light from the large bay windows baths the whole room with sunlight. Both the Ballroom and the Bayroom have their private balcony for guests to gather and chat and enjoy drinks and canopies all within the confines of their own personal space.

A recent change in the Ballroom has now moved the dancefloor in front of the large front windows to enjoy the views not just all day but during the evening dancing too, what a great decision. If there’s a sunset on the cards it’ll be the icing on the cake for you.

The Beach For photos and video

The beach at Roslin is the perfect backdrop for some stunning couple shots. after the ceremony, a short gentle stroll on the beach taking in the background of sea and sand makes for some lovely photos and videos. From capturing your footprints in the sand, walking hand in hand, or the bride's veil caught in the sea breeze – each frame tells a story.

In the evening the colours come alive and the estuary is bathed in golden light with ever-changing colours in the sky. Silhouette shots against the setting sun can be a lovely addition to your wedding photos.

Group shots on the beach

Many couples invite the guests to the beach too for some fun group shots in front of the endless horizon of the Thames Estuary. Bear in mind it’s sand, so prepare to erupt in laughter when a guest’s high heels dig in. But it’s worth it to capture the wedding guests and a seaside feel with the estuary and beach.

I’ve said it many times but the staff are just outstanding with Amy leading the team including Evan and Tate who I’ve worked with so many times. Amy and the team are efficient and well-organised and your day is planned perfectly. You’ll relax and have the day of your life knowing all the details are being taken care of behind the scene.

Culinary Excellence

I can talk from experience and say that the food is excellent, I’m not surprised it is award-winning with the AA two Rosette accreditation. The culinary team clearly take pride in their dishes, they taste great and look superb too.

With rooms that echo the beachfront charm, you and your guests should seriously consider staying for the night with rooms that provide spectacular views for sharing a quiet moment on the balcony.

Endless Opportunities for Creative Shots

The Roslin Beach Hotel is not just about the beach and estuary views as there are plenty of nooks and corners around the hotel for those special candid shots or couple portraits. The stairs are decorated with an amazing array of artificial flowers and an old antique bicycle propping it all up at the bottom. They have recently revamped the garden area which looks great and are shielded from any wind with large glass panels ensuring you still get the estuary views. Then the south-facing patios for socialising and mingling and fun-packed candids of you and the guests, ensuring a nice blend in your Roslin Beach wedding photography and film.

I’ve photographed all seasons and there’s always something special about the Roslin, it really is one of my favourites bringing out that beach feel-good factor at every wedding.
