The Wedding of Sam & James At The Old Rectory

The weather forecasts in the week leading up to Sam and James’ wedding predicted a mini heat wave - and it didn’t disappoint. It was hot hot hot, the hottest day of the year in fact and 25 degrees for the 20th April was unexpected but welcome.

The Old Rectory is a Manor house with 4 acres of grounds that sits between Basildon and Upminster and is a popular venue for Essex weddings for good reason. It’s in a secluded area with beautiful grounds and lots of variety for some cool images. The large outside patio area takes advantage of the afternoon sun and overlooks the lawns and outside gazibo.

A couple of weeks prior to the ceremony just after the stag do James fell ill with an infection to his face causing partial temporary paralysis that would take months to recover from. But this didn’t deter neither Sam or James who’s great positive attitude is a credit to them both. It was inspiring to hear from them that it was one of those things they had no control of and that their day would not be affected at all.

Sam made use of the bridal suite which overlooked the grounds giving her a great view of the outside wedding arrangements. The wedding itself went without a hitch in the outside gazibo surrounded by beaming family and friends.

The coverage was my usual natural story telling style but we did take some family and friend formals after the ceremony. Then I took the happy couple around the grounds alone for some special bride and groom pictures.

I was there until the late evening and time just flew by with the dance floor packed all night keeping me busy capturing the fun and laughter.
